Today we are checking out a fly that does incredibly well during the colder months of the year, specifically the months September through to December. The Apéritif Cruncher as Steve explains, is a pattern you want to fish solo or hanging below a large fry style pattern. In the colder months, Trout are actively looking to the surface for fry to prey on and this cruncher mixed with a fry pattern is deadly. It also performs well in a team with other Nymphs or Buzzers when you aren’t fishing lures, Steve also recommends switching it up with a variant where you create a hotspot by swapping the Black thread for a striking colour like Fluorescent Orange, both patterns are killers on the right day.
